Alan McKinnon – Professor of Logistics

Week of events in Ho Chi Minh City

Between the 30 May and 4 June 2024 I contributed to three events in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, two of which were organized by Kuehne Logistics University and CFVG French Vietnamese School of Management and the third by the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietman.  These activities were related to KLU’s plans to establish a base in Ho Chi Minh City. Video overview of these activities.

30 May 2024: At KLU-CFVG conference I moderated a discussion on ‘Supply Chains in South-East Asia: Environmental Challenges & Opportunities’ with a distinguished academic and industry panel comprising Prof Ruth Banomyong (Thammasat University, Bangkok), Prof Mark Goh (National University of Singapore), Prof Linh Duong (University of the West of England), Anh Ton Nu Tu (Guardian retailer chain) and Denis Mujkanovic (DHL Procurement)

31 May 2024: At KLU-CFVG research symposium I gave a keynote presentation on the ‘Role of Logistics in the Climate Crisis’

Recording of this presentation

4 June 2024: I was guest speaker and panellist at a lunch-time business event organised by the European Chamber of Commerce.  The theme of the event was ‘Decarbonising Logistics and Supply Chains in the Climate Crisis’.  I presented decarbonisation as one of a series of supply chain mega-trends and one of many ways in which logistics is critical to our management of the climate crisis.  I also considered the implications for Southeast Asia, which were explored more fully in the panel discussion when I was joined by Nguyen Xuan Thang, Vice Chair of EuroCham, Juergen Weber, Chairman of the EuroCha Transportation and Logistics Sector Committee and Bjoern Traemann, General Director of Kuehne+Nagel in Vietnam.  Copy of my presentation.
