Sustainable logistics
This section contains references to papers, reports and book chapters on the environmental sustainability of logistics and what can be done to improve it. Publications discussing the links between logistics and climate change are reviewed in a separate section.
The outputs listed in this section fall into three categories:
- General works on sustainable logistics, which take a broad overview of the subject or the application of the concept in particular sectors, such as retailing and international transport, or in government circles.
- Studies which place a monetary value on the environmental impacts of logistics and consider how this might be internalised in higher taxes.
- Studies which investigate ways of reducing the environmental effects of logistics within urban areas, where high densities of freight traffic and population coincide.
