Alan McKinnon – Professor of Logistics

Convocation Address at East West University, Bangladesh

I had the honour and pleasure of delivering the Convocation Address at the Annual graduation ceremony of East West University in Dhaka.  This is the largest private university in Bangladesh, founded in 1996, and now with around 11,000 students. 2861 students were awarded degrees at the ceremony.  The Education Minister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury MP represented the country’s President at the event, which was also attended by many dignitaries from Bangladesh and other countries.  In my Address, entitled ‘Challenges and Opportunities for New Graduates in a World of Supply Chains’, I outlined the importance of logistics and supply chain management to the economic development of a country like Bangladesh, as major sources of graduate employment and facing challenges such as deglobalisation and climate change.  A copy of my speech is available here.

I was invited to contribute to this prestigious event by the Vice Chancellor of East West University, Professor Shams Rahman, someone with a long and distinguished academic career in supply chain management.
