Smart Freight Week 2024

I managed to attend the last couple of days of Smart Freight Week 2024 in Amsterdam.  The numbers attending this event seem to be growing exponentially, reaching 550 this year.   As in previous years there was a great programme, intense networking and a very friendly atmosphere. It was a wonderful opportunity to meet many old friends and make new acquaintances.

Much of the attention this year focused on ‘book and claim’ schemes, emission measurement, the decarbonisation of road freight transport and the expansion of green freight initiatives in India, Africa and China. I was invited to join a concluding panel discussion, reflecting on the 2024 event and offering suggestions for next year’s Smart Freight Week.

The following day I attended a meeting of the Smart Freight Centre’s Advisory Council, to which I have belonged since the organisation was established in 2013.   The SFC has enjoyed phenomenal growth in recent years, diversifying its range of activities and further extending its geographical reach.  I’ve greatly valued my close association with the SFC over the past eleven years.
