The EU Transport Research Arena conference, which is held bi-annually, is Europe’s large transport conference. The 2024 event took place in Dublin between the 15 and 18 April on the theme of ‘Transport Transitions: Advancing Sustainable and Inclusive Mobility’.  I moderated a Strategic Session in which a panel of ‘Logistics Decarbonisation Champions’ discussed ways of ‘accelerating the decarbonisation of freight transport and logistics in Europe’.  On the panel were Andrea Condotta (Gruber Logistics), Sergio Barbarino (Procter and Gamble), Maria Luisa Melo (DHL Express Europe), Carles Rua (Port of Barcelona) Annika Kroon (European Commission) and Abhinand Chandrasekar (Future Proof Shipping).  Panellists gave examples of initiatives that their companies had implemented or were planning to increase the rate of freight decarbonisation.  These included a range of technical, digital, operational, managerial and regulatory measures.
