Alan McKinnon – Professor of Logistics

Physical Internet: Let's Get Physical

The Physical Internet is considered a ‘new supply chain paradigm’ and strongly promoted by ALICE, the European Technology Platform for Logistics, and others as, among other things, a key to decarbonising European logistics.  In the April issue of Logistics Manager I ask why the level of awareness of the PI among logistics managers still seems rather low.  I offer four possible reasons, including its portrayal as a longer term development at a time when managers are preoccupied with short-term shocks and crises. Apologies to Olivia Newton-John for plagiarising the title of her 1981 hit!
