Carbon Pricing in the Logistics Sector

In my column in the November 2022 issue of Logistics Manager magazine, entitled ‘how much for my CO2‘, I consider the monetary valuation of emissions from the logistics sector.   I argue that ‘Depending on the purpose of the exercise, the market and the time-scale, CO2 emissions could be worth anything from £2 to over £500 a tonne’.  Governments are likely to rely increasingly on the price mechanism to reinforce decarbonisation trends.  Logistics business can prepare for this by ‘shadow pricing’ these emissions into their financial accounting.
