Road Freight Transport in the UK

This report is a detailed review of statistics on the UK road freight sector.  It begins with a broad overview of the contribution of logistics to the national economy, business competitiveness and employment.  The remainder of the report examines many different aspects of the movement of freight by road in the UK, including its share of the freight market, the truck fleet profile, level of activity, relationship with GDP and environmental sustainability.  Trends in a range of key parameters are analysed including: handling factor, average length of haul, empty running, lading factor, fuel efficiency, carbon intensity and accident involvement.
