African Green Freight activities in Dar es Salaam

The Kuehne Climate Centre working in partnership with the Smart Freight Centre launched a new East Africa Green Freight Programme at the 5th Global Logistics Convention (GLC) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on the 14 and 15 August 2024.  I was invited by the Climate Centre to participate in related activities.  This began with me running full-day workshop at the University of Dar es Salaam for a mixed audience of forty professors, PhD researchers, students and industry guests on the theme of ‘Sustainable to Net Zero Logistics’.  The following day at the Convention I gave a keynote address on ‘Greening Logistics: Opportunities and Challenges’ and another shorter presentation on ‘Capability Building for the Greening of Logistics’.  I was also a panellist in two discussions about success factors for green freight programmes and skill and training requirements for sustainable logistics.  The East Africa Green Freight Programme was formally launched on the second day of the GLC.
