Alan McKinnon – Professor of Logistics

24 October 2025

ALICE Logistics Innovation Summit, Brussels

At the 2025 Summit of the Alliance for Logistics Innovation through Collaboration in Europe (ALICE) in Brussels I gave an updated presentation on Climate Logistics.  This re-used content from previous conference addresses that I’ve given on the subject in recent months but also explored the wider implications of this ‘redefinition of logistics role in the climate crisis‘ - five in particular:

  • recognising that future demand for logistics services will be greater and more diverse than forecast

  • questioning the logistical feasibility of some of the proposed climate actions

  • highlighting the inter-relationships between the multiple roles that logistics will play in the climate crisis

  • factoring logistics costs into assessments of the financial viability of major climate actions

  • identifying new commercial opportunities for logistics service providers
