12th International Workshop on Sustainable Road Freight

I attended the 12^th International Workshop on Sustainable Road Freight which was held at the University of Cambridge and focussed this year on ‘Scaling-up Electric Road Freight Transport’. It comprised 33 research presentations, keynote addresses by Phil Greening (Heriot-Watt University), Cathrin Iden (Milence), Lew Fulton (UC Davis) and Jakob Rogstadius (RISE Swedish Research Institute) and updates on several truck electrification demonstration projects in the UK and EU.

I was invited to give the Address at the workshop dinner in Gonville & Caius College. During my speech I began by congratulating members of the Centre for Sustainable Road Freight for the excellent work they have done over the past 13 years. I then reflected on some global trends in the decarbonization of road freight operations and the research being undertaken to monitor and support this process.
