F&L Meetings in Ghent and Antwerp

The European Freight and Logistics Leaders Forum (F&L) organised a two-day event in the North Sea Port at Ghent and the Port of Antwerp with the title ‘Priorities and Choices: Stuck in Crisis Mode’.  I attended in my capacity as an ambassador of F&L and contributed to sessions on the second day in Antwerp.  This began with an updated presentation on six supply chain megatrends relating to international trade, resilience, decarbonisation, digitalisation, ecommerce and skills.  I then joined a panel discussion with three other academics, Christa Sys from the University of Antwerp, Stavros Karamperidis from the University of Plymouth and Aldo Arranz from the Zaragoza Logistics Centre to reflect on, among other things, the relationship between crisis management and value creation.  Afterwards I joined Christa and Jemima Atkins of Pioneer Point Partners to discuss climate risk, the energy transition and access to capital in a series of breakout groups. I used another short presentation to stimulate discussion on the first two of these themes.
