Alan McKinnon – Professor of Logistics

15 July 2026

International Transport Energy Modelling (ITEM) Group Workshop, IEA Paris

The 8th Workshop in a series organised by the International Transport Energy Modelling (iTEM8) Group was held in the International Energy Agency building in Paris on the 15 and 16 July 2026.  As co-ordinator of the Group, Professor Sonia Yeh, explains in a Linkedin post, ‘ITEM is much more than a workshop. It is a forum for open and constructive exchange on model projections, assumptions and mechanisms, global outlooks and regional heterogeneity, modal dynamics, open datasets, and emerging topics in transport and energy.’ This was reflected by the very full and diverse programme of presentations and discussions.  In my presentation I examined the energy implications of recent logistics trends and issues, some of which will be summarised in a forthcoming book chapter.
