World Economic Forum Supply Chain Transformation Map

Several years ago the World Economic Forum developed a powerful software tool that constructs ‘transformational maps’ for a broad range of activities and sectors.   They map the complex networks of interconnections between key trends influencing particular activities, sectors and countries. The maps have a circular, hierarchical structure allowing the user to explore the interdependencies between developments in different sectors / fields.  They also contain text outlining these developments.

Recently the WEF invited outside specialists to co-curate the maps in particular subjects. The Kuehne Logistics University was invited to co-curate the map on ‘Supply Chain and Transport’ and has substantially revised, expanded and updated its content. The new map identifies what we regard as the eight key megatrends affecting the future of supply chains (inner circle) and shows their interconnections with other megatrends (outer circle):

Until recently the 120 Transformation Maps were only available to those with access to the WEF’s TopLink website.  On the 9th November 2017 there was public launch of the maps.  The tranformation mapping platform is now available on an open access basis and can be used interactively online.
