Alan McKinnon – Professor of Logistics

22 May 2019

International Transport Forum, Leipzig

The theme of this year’s ITF summit in Leipzig was ‘Transport Connectivity for Regional Integration’.  It attracted over 1000 participants from over 70 countries and comprised 55 separate sessions.  I contributed to two of these sessions:

Towards safe, efficient and sustainable road freight transport – infrastructure and vehicle fleet perspective

This session discussed two recent ITF/OECD reports on the relaxation of truck size and weight limits and policies to extend the life of road assets.

Details of the session can be found here

I acted as the moderator.

ITF Transport Outlook

Every two years the ITF publishes a Transport Outlook report which ‘presents scenarios of transport for sectors and modes until 2050’.  The 2019 edition was launched at this year’s ITF summit.  This session began with a summary of the report by Jari Kauppila.  There then followed panel discussion of future transport trends. I was one of the panellists.   A short summary of the session is available here

A video of this session is also available
