The theme of this year’s ITF summit in Leipzig was ‘Transport Connectivity for Regional Integration’.  It attracted over 1000 participants from over 70 countries and comprised 55 separate sessions.  I contributed to two of these sessions:

Towards safe, efficient and sustainable road freight transport – infrastructure and vehicle fleet perspective

This session discussed two recent ITF/OECD reports on the relaxation of truck size and weight limits and policies to extend the life of road assets.

ITF Transport Outlook 

Every two years the ITF publishes a Transport Outlook report which ‘presents scenarios of transport for sectors and modes until 2050’.  The 2019 edition was launched at this year’s ITF summit.  This session began with a summary of the report by Jari Kauppila.  There then followed panel discussion of future transport trends. I was one of the panellists.   A short summary of the session is available here.
