PreCOP25 Climate Change Conference

PreCOP graphic

This year’s COP25 climate change conference will be hosted by the Chilean government in Santiago between  2nd and 13th of December 2019.  Preparatory work for this event, the so-called PreCOP25, was held in San Jose, Costa Rica between  7th and 10th October.  Following an invitation from the President of Costa Rica during his visit to KLU in May 2019, I attended PreCOP25 and contributed as  panellist in two transport sessions.

The first session, organised by the Transport Decarbonisation Alliance, examined ways of intensifying efforts to cut carbon emissions from the transport sector.   The second, organised mainly by GIZ and SLoCaT, focused on the development of e-mobility strategies for cities and countries.  It was one of several sessions exploring the extent to which countries can strengthen their commitments to cut transport emissions by electrifying their vehicle fleets.  On both of these panels I tried to provide a freight and logistics perspective to complement the discussion of personal mobility issues which tend to get prioritised at climate change events.

Details of the PreCOP25 event.
